Bubonic plague, septisemic and pneumonic plague, colloquially called the black death, was one of the biggests epidemics of man kind and just during the pandemic in the 14th and 15th century nearly 100 Million people in Asia, Europe and Africa has been fallen victim to the black death.
There has been 2 main vectors of bulbonic plague, caused by Yersinia pestis bacteria, rats & mice and flees. The pandemic started in China and spread along the silk road. The black death, carried by infected rats was a stowaway on many merchant ships and finally reached Italy.
Outgoing from Genoa, Italy, the disastrous disease infested Europe and claimed its death toll. The dark age black death pandemic changed social, economic and religious matters. The people turned one’s back to the church, as the church couldn´t provide cure.

In 1994 there has been a pneumonic plague epidemic in Surat, India.

2005: Bas-Uele, Congo
2008: Madagascar and Uganda
2009: Ziketan, Tibet
Scientist are warning, there could be malicious mutations of the plague pathogen in the future. The plague out-break in India 1994 already
showed a new strain of plague pathogens.
